SLOE GIN FIZZ

THE SLOE GIN FIZZ

The Sloe Gin Fizz Orchestra originated in Ascot Corner, Quebec, Canada, when two brothers from a family steeped in 1950s culture left their respective musical endeavors to embark on a larger adventure. These two founding members, Marcus Welby and El Domino, had a common vision of a band that would mix Rock & Roll, Country and Rockabilly, and which would present the most festive and theatrical spectacle in Quebec. A show showcasing the great hits of Elvis Presley and the Golden Age of Rock & Roll, with modern and overflowing energy, with impeccable choreography and aesthetics.

To realize this vision, various musicians joined them all from the Eastern Townships and passionate about rockabilly and the 1950s. The group includes double bassist (Marcus Welby), drummer (Zakary Brien), guitarists (El Domino & Johnny Morin) , Saxophone (Alex Ouellette), Trumpet (Remy Rivard), WashBoard (David Morin) Each member of the big band is completely passionate and involved in their musical style, to such an extent that Rock & Roll is for some of them a real way of life. Whether it's having Mid-Century apartments or houses, driving vintage cars daily, donning vintage clothes every day and traveling around the world to learn about this passion.

For the past 5 years, the Sloe Gin Fizz show has also featured several original songs from the band. The compositions are also in the Rock & Roll style and fit perfectly among the great retro hits. The lyrics are written by the group and deal, in a humorous way, with various events and local realities in Estrie. A debut album recorded in 2020, including 12 original compositions, has just been released on CD and vinyl in the summer of 2021.

LITTLE BIT MORE:

For the last 35 years the Montreal Rockabilly has stood out as the biggest rockabilly scene in Canada, and among the most vibrant in North America. The scene is characterized by a great collaboration and an absence of barriers between artists and fans of traditional rockabilly music, and artists and fans of neo-rockabilly and Psychobilly. Several Bands have distinguished themselves on the international scene such as Bloodshot Bill, Hellboud Hepcats, Howlin Hound Dogs, The Shook Boys, Peter and the Wolves, The Brains, Gutter Demons, etc... With the pandemic hitting everywhere including Canada, major shows have been stopped for 2 year. We greatly hope that the situation will improve this summer for the Vintage Car Show season, which are among the biggest events for the rockabilly scene in Quebec and Canada. Sloe Gin Fizz have also confirmed their presence at Canada's largest rockabilly festival, the annual Red Hot and Blue rockabilly weekend, which will take place this summer from July 22nd to 24th in Gananoque, Ontario.
